A Touching Teaser from Brickell Avenue Ambush

It’s been a long time since I’ve shared a teaser! So, today I’m sharing a short teaser from Brickell Avenue Ambush. In this scene, Ricky and Mariela have just been attacked after they went to check on a construction project being built by Mariela’s abusive ex. They suspect that there is something very dangerous about the project which could cost people their lives. Having survived the attack, it’s time for some tenderness and reflection! Ricky cupped her cheek and stepped close until her warm breath spilled against his lips. Soft and regular at first, but then harder, faster, when he laid a hand at her waist and closed the gap between them.

She inched up on tiptoes and met his lips with hers, the kiss gentle. Hesitant as if she hadn’t kissed anyone in a long time.

He didn’t press, aware of her past. Hoping to build trust for the future.

He let her end the kiss, giving her the control she’d lacked in her life for so long.

When she stepped away, he ran the back of his hand across her cheek. “I’ll meet you downstairs when you’re done.”

MARIELA COULDN’T FIND her voice. Her throat was too choked up with the emotion of that so simple, but so pure, touch.

All she could do was nod and rush off to her bedroom to wash off the sea spray from their ride and the fear that had gripped her yet again at the sound of the first bullet hitting the boat’s windshield.

He had defended her again, risking his life. Again.

She had no doubt it was going to happen again. This time she intended to be prepared for it just like Ricky had been prepared. She’d been surprised when he’d pulled out a weapon to chase away their attacker, but he’d handled it with ease.

After their meeting with Trey and his father, she was going to ask Ricky to show her how to protect herself. She wouldn’t be caught defenseless again.

I’m stopping by today for a GIVEAWAY of my book, HIGH-STAKES BLIZZARD!

It takes place in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Lake Tahoe. Did you know that this is one of the snowiest areas in the US’s lower 48 states? I thought it would make the perfect setting for a story with lots of action and suspense.

The book is a second-chance romance, featuring Rain and David, who are stuck on the mountain, fleeing someone who is hunting them while also battling a snowstorm.

Rain glanced down the sheer drop off the edge of the ridge again. She was not going to die the same way Brandon did. She eyed the tall firs below, covered with snow, the ones she’d wished her brother had fallen into. They were her only chance. She couldn’t wait for this man to catch her off guard. She had to willingly jump to make it those few extra feet if she had any hope of hitting them.

Can I make myself jump?

She took a step toward the ledge. Another.

The man raised his gun, pointing it at her. “I’m not letting this go.”

You choose! Royalty or Cowboy?

I almost wasn’t going to ask you which one you would rather see in a book since I suspect what will be the overwhelming choice! As for me, I’ve had royalty in my books (The Prince’s Gamble and To Catch a Princess) but I’m not sure I’ve ever had cowboy unless you count Sheriff Jackson Whitaker from Cold Case Reopened. I think both are exciting and romantic, but who would you choose as the hero? Royalty or a Cowboy? P.S. – I can’t spill the beans just yet, but you may be seeing more of Jackson in the future!

Happy Times at CMC 2024

I had such a lovely time at the 2024 Coastal Magic Convention! There were wonderful panels and social events and I loved meeting so many new people as well as getting together with old friends. I had a chance to take part in several panels and also attend a number of very interesting workshops. On Friday night we had a Murder Mystery party and I volunteered to be one of the actors and it was a blast! CMC volunteers did an amazing job of decorating the ballroom to look like a Las Vegas casino and all the actors dressed up for their roles. I played a butcher who was very upset with one of the other characters because they were dissed by her. Turns out she had annoyed a lot of people and ended up as the murder victim. The next day was lunch with my reader friends and I loved spending time with Franjessca, Alexia, and Patrice! We had a lovely time and it passed way too quickly. The book signing was fabulous and I loved seeing so many people come by to chat and pick up a book. The final event was a pajama party with all kinds of games as well as a planjama event where planner lovers got together to exchange stickers, washi tapes, journals, ideas and suggestions on how to get organized. I scored some lovely washi tape, stickers, and ideas on how to improve my social media calendar! A win win! If you love conferences, I would highly recommend the Coastal Magic Convention!

Put on Your Thinking Caps!

Please put on your thinking caps because I need a little help! I’ve written two books set in Mexico that have Aztec themes and I want to bundle them into a box set and need a title. AZTEC GOLD is about a missing archeologist, the woman determined to find him and an Aztec demon demi-goddess. In THE FIFTH KINGDOM, a professor and a CIA Agent are trying to stop terrorists from finding an Aztec relic that may have incredible powers, possibly time travel (I don’t want to spoil it in case you haven’t read it yet.) Some of the possible titles are in the image I’ve posted but I’m not sure I’m in love with any of them. I’d love to hear which one you like or if you think you’ve got a better one and I choose it, you’ll get an acknowledgment in the book as well as an autographed copy of the book! Did Ikea nail this gamer station?

My daughter, her sister-in-law, and I hit our local IKEA to look for some cute items for the nursery we’ll be putting together in a couple of months. We found some fun items, but the one that had us chuckling the hardest was this demo display that IKEA put together for a gaming station. It hit us as being so accurate even down to the empty DAIM candy bag on the ground. What do you think? Did IKEA nail this display? P.S. – I could totally picture billionaire software developer and gamer John Wilson from Biscayne Bay Breach having a station that looks like this, maybe even messier as he works on finding out who’s trying to hack his uber-secretive program.
