Today is National Plan a Vacation Day! I love being able to get away and do something different, even if it’s only a short ride to a new nearby location. This year we’re doing a family vacation with my daughter and her husband since we haven’t done one in quite a few years. I’m looking forward to spending a week with them because we always have fun together. This time we’re going to do a river cruise and I’m so excited to visit new places. The river cruise company plans excursions during the cruise, but we’ll have a couple of days where we can plan our own things to do! Can’t wait! I’ll also be heading out to California for the Romance Writers of America conference and I can’t wait to see some friends who I haven’t seen in years. How about you? Do you have any vacation plans for this year?
Man Candy Galore on Physical 100
What can I say? Physical 100 teased me because it sounded like a real-life Squid Games without the killing, of course. Within a few minutes, I realized it was a Man Candy dream come true. Wow! So many handsome Korean men with bodies that are killer. I definitely recommend it if you need to get a dose of amazing eye candy and also some really exciting physical challenges. The trailer for the show is below and you can catch Physical 100 on Netflix.

Kick Up Your Feet and Relax a Little
It’s Sunday. I love Sundays because I get to do brunch with my writing buddy and talk about books and how the writing is going! Then I get to just relax, something that I rarely get to do during the week. I hope your Sunday is exactly what you want it to be! Whether relaxing, exciting, plain, or fancy, have a great Sunday!
Saturday Spring Cleaning Vibes
I have a tendency to collect things and every now and then I know it’s time to go through my stuff and wean out things that should either be thrown out or which can be donated to others who need them more than me. Even though it’s not Spring, something made me get going on it! So I went through my T-shirt drawers (yes more than one), sweater drawer, shoe rack, table linens, etc. to do that Spring cleaning. I was very happy with the results since my drawers are nice and organized and I was able to donate quite a number of useful items to Goodwill. I also know that whatever they don’t keep to resell will be recycled rather than just ending up in a dump somewhere. In The Family She Never Met, there’s mention of a very special table that the heroine’s grandmother bought at a St. Vincent de Paul location. That story comes from my family’s real history and that table now resides in my daughter’s house. I hope in time she’ll pass it to her children along with the story of how it was acquired. Friday Night Burger or Pizza?
Friday night was always our casual night. When my daughter was younger it was pizza in front of the television, usually either Doug or Rugrats. Now that we’re empty nesters, it’s still casual night, but it’s not always pizza. Sometimes it’s my other fav food: a burger. How about you? Is Friday your night to relax and maybe order a pizza, burger, or maybe something else? What’s your fav?
A Blast from the Past
My niece has been doing some family research and ran across this photo of me from our high school yearbook, I believe. I was President of the Leaders Club my senior and this is a photo of the officers. Leaders Club members were female athletes who would assist the Physical Education staff with various tasks around the gym. I’m dating myself, but this was only a few years after the passage of Title IX, and female athletes had to scrabble for recognition and acceptance. For a long time we weren’t part of the annual award event for athletes and to this day I remember how one of the male Phys Ed staff members asked me if I thought I deserved it when I was awarded the Pantherette Award for the best female athlete. I had no doubt I deserved it, and not just because Title IX said they had to do something like this since there was a Panther award. I’m so happy to see how things have changed for female athletes and hope we continue to make progress.
Stay Positive and Stay the Course
I’m a firm believer that you have to stay positive and stay the course if you want to accomplish something. That’s especially true of today’s publishing industry. Whether your indie, small press, or traditional, authors face more challenges than ever, IMHO. But no matter what, you won’t succeed if you give up. My mother always told me that nothing worthwhile is easy and it’s an adage that I keep in my brain constantly. So even though things may seem tough, stay positive and keep working at it!
