#ThrowbackThursday – A Visit to South Beach

It’s been a while since I visited South Beach, but it was always a fun place to go. Nice beach, great architecture, Lummus Park, Lincoln Road, and amazing restaurants. Plus we always made time for a trip to Little Havana for some great Cuban food. When I was a kid we used to go to Miami regularly to visit with family and friends, so it was always interesting to see how the neighborhood changed and how it stayed the same. I’ve shared some of those thoughts and memories with you in SOUTH BEACH LOVE. I’ve also included some Easter Eggs for people who’ve read my other books set in South Beach. We might even do a little contest around that when SOUTH BEACH LOVE comes out in June 2020. For now, here’s a photo of South Beach that I took during my last visit there.

#WriteWed – Cover Reveals for 2020 Releases

I’m so excited about all that will be happening in 2020! Another book in the At the Shore series and a Hallmark book! Wow, Hallmark!! So exciting. I’m also working on lots of re-releases of my Harlequin books as well as a brand new book for Sourcebooks. That one will be a book of my heart as I’m including a lot of real-life stories about my family’s history in leaving Cuba and arriving in the United States (blessed to be here!). Also a major lifestyle change which I will share as soon as I can! SO EXCITING.

I am so excited to be sharing my re-release of DEATH CALLS with you today. This is #4 in The Calling is Reborn Vampire Novel series, but each book in the series stands alone. Beneath his fingers, Ryder experienced the pull of her. The scent of her arousal perfumed the air, so strong that the vampire within begged for a taste. He had lost the battle last time. #MotivationMonday – Forgiving Yourself

My wonderful friend Jayne came over this week to help me assemble some wedding favors and while we worked we talked about our respective struggles to lose weight. Jayne was an inspiration to me with all the weight she lost and when I mentioned a setback this week in my weight loss goals, she offered this pearl of wisdom she had learned from her weight loss group: You have to learn to forgive yourself when you suffer a setback like that.

Think about it. If someone does something you don’t like and you call them on it, but they apologize, you forgive them, right? You don’t beat them over the head over and over again about it (we hope).

So why do we do that to ourselves and not just about weight loss? We do it over our jobs, friendships, husbands, children, etc. We sometimes hold ourselves up to standards that are unreasonable and which may lead us to self-doubt or worse, self-loathing.

So today’s Motivation Monday is about being able to forgive yourself. If you’ve fallen down, dust yourself off, get up, and try again with a fresh slate thanks to forgiveness. I did and was able to get back on track!

#ThrowbackThursday – My daughter, the introvert!

I know that some of you who know me well will scoff at this, but I am actually quite shy. It has taken me a lot to become a “people person.” Ditto for my hubby. We had to work at being more extroverted. On the other hand, there’s my daughter who grew up seeing my hubby and I be social and is incredibly good with people. She just knows how to reach them and be a friend. I admire her for the many people she touched over the years at her surf and skate shop. So, she’s not an introvert at all and she’s always shown her emotions, real or fake, in many ways. This is just a small montage of some of my fav photos of her!

#WriteWed – A Feel Good Romance That’s Tasty Too!

I am so excited to be writing for Hallmark, especially since the story I’ve written has some of my fav things in it. South Beach. Chefs. Family traditions. What could make for a better story? I loved writing SOUTH BEACH LOVE, a tale of two rival teens who unknowingly throw a monkey wrench into the growing relationship between their aunt and uncle, who also happen to be top chefs. It was a lot of fun to show the growth in the two girls as well as the competition between the two chefs, Tony Sanchez and Sara Kelly. Plus I love to cook and really enjoyed exploring both my old family recipes and new twists on them as the chefs try to outdo each other. Today I’m sharing some recipes that were part of the inspiration for the cooking competition!
