#ManCandyMonday – Cutie Diego Boneta

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Man Candy Monday and boy it was tough research to find this cutie for you! Diego Boneta is a Mexican singer and actor who you may recognize from the 2012 Rock of Ages motion picture. Look for him in November as he’ll also be appearing in TERMINATOR:DARK FATE, another movie in the Terminator franchise. For more info on Diego and his works, please visit him on his Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/diego/.

#ThrowbackThursday -It’s Time for a Wedding!

I think I may have mentioned – LOL I’ve mentioned it a lot – that my baby is getting married. We are very happy for her and for her fiancé who is a lovely young man. We are very happy to welcome him and his family to ours! Since weddings are on the mind, I thought I’d share family photos of some our weddings. The first one to the left is my parents. The middle one is hubby’s parents. To the extreme right are hubby and me! We were such babies when we got married! I’ll post my daughter’s wedding photo as soon as I can after the November 1 wedding.

#WisdomWednesday – Time to Refill the Well

There’s a Spanish saying that goes like this: Gota a gota la fuente se agota. Loosely translated it means “Drop by drop the well runs dry.”

I’ve hit dry and it’s time for me to take a moment and refill my well. That means some of the projects I planned on finishing these past few months will have to wait until the start of next year when I’ll have lots more time to work on them. It’s been hard for me to accept that, especially since so many of my friends tease me that I’m Wonder Woman, but I’ve got too many things going on and I don’t want to give anything short shrift.

That is a major decision for me, but one that had to be made for me to keep my sanity and also, to give you the best possible stories that I can bring to the table. So look for more vampire stories and #3 At the Shore in the beginning of next year after I’ve had a chance to re-focus and refill my creative well.

#TransformationTuesday – A Big Milestone

Even with all the celebrations that have been going on – My daughter’s bridal shower and a friend’s daughter’s baby shower – I’ve been sticking to my plan and with a week left to the month, I hope to have lost at least four pounds this month. But beyond that, I’ve hit a big milestone: I have passed the halfway point to the weight I want to be. In addition, since starting this journey in January, I’ve lost a total of 39 pounds. I big goal to reach, but only one stop along the journey to being healthier. In the months since I’ve started, I’ve made quite a number of lifestyle changes and am happy about where I am, but also determined to keep on going. Last, but definitely not least, I’m determined that this time the change will stick for good. Why? Because my current lifestyle seems to be one that I can continue in the future, namely eating healthier and exercise routines that I can keep without too much difficulty. In any case, here’s a photo of where I am now and wow, I am so happy!

#ThrowbackThursday – Thank You for Being a Friend

So sorry I’ve been silent for the last week, but I was busy with preparations for my daughter’s bridal shower! We had so much fun! I’m sharing some photos from that event for you. Now it’s on to the November 1 wedding. Can’t wait. (And darn I can’t believe I didn’t get a picture of the spread of food I made!!! Ugh or the dining room with all our guests!!!) P.S. – That’s my wedding gown that my daughter wore for the shower!

#WisdomWednesday – Never Forget 9-11

It seems hard to believe that it’s been 18 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. So many lives lost then and now, as our First Responders and other NYC residents in lower Manhattan battle 9-11 related illnesses. Never forget that radical Islamic extremists attacked us that day and continue to want to do us and our allies harm with their twisted religious views. God bless those we lost and those who rushed in to help others. God bless the USA and keep her safe from those who would do her harm. Thank you to all our First Responders and our military men, women, and families who sacrifice so much to keep us safe.

#TransformationTuesday – What’s the best workout?

A lot of you have been asking what I’ve been doing to lose so much weight – almost 37 pounds since the start of the year. First I have to say diet is a key factor. For me, it was drastically cutting back on the carbs that I normally ate. No more Friday night casual pizza meals. No more Sunday pasta. Rice. Bread. Yes, I dream of them but only eat them on occasion because clearly my body just packs them on as pounds.

As for workouts, the best workout for you is one that you can do on a regular basis. There is nothing worse than setting unreasonable goals for yourself that you can’t keep. That will just set you up for failure. So how about starting off slow? If you normally walk ten minutes a day, try doing it for twenty or do it twice. Exercise is cumulative. Same things for lifting weights. I didn’t start off deadlifting 125 pounds, it took time to get there.

How do I work out? I mix things up! Twice a week I do the elliptical for 40 minutes, but I also walk at least 4 miles a day. I walk to and from my office once I get to the city and then every hour I get up and stretch my legs. I also do strength training twice a week. That involves a combination of weights, suspension exercises, as well as flexibility and balance routines. Friday night is a rest night. On the weekends I try to get in two long walks, usually at least 2 or 3 miles during each of the walks. My morning walk is brisk. My afternoon/evening stroll is leisurely.

I hope that helps you plan for your transformation!
