Do You Love Small-Town Romance or Sports Romance?

There are so many different romance tropes that romance readers love, and I think two of the most popular ones are small-town romance and sports romance. Now, some of you may ask, is that why I wrote the Marauders baseball books? Actually, I wrote them years ago and only got the rights back. But because of other obligations, I didn’t get to revise and release them until last month. I love both small-town and sports romances, and I’m not sure I could pick one over the other. Happy Sloppy Joe Day

Did you know that the Sloppy Joe sandwich originated sometime in the late 1800s in the Midwest? Do you love Sloppy Joes? The frugal meat dish was very popular, especially during the Great Depression, as it helped stretch the meat with tomato sauce and other ingredients. But how did it come to be known as the Sloppy Joe? Some say it was after a cook named Joe in Iowa who decided to add tomato sauce to a loose meat sandwich. Others say it’s named after the Sloppy Joe Bar in Key West, also famous for being where Ernest Hemingway hung out. Of course, there’s the Manwich sauce, which made the meal a real hit in American homes. I remember eating many a Sloppy Joe growing up. Cubans have their own version, picadillo, which is one of my favorite meals. But picadillo is served over rice. Nom nom. Two favorite foods together! P.S. Every St. Patrick’s Day, we join the Irish and have Corned Beef & Cabbage to celebrate. This year, we’re ordering it from a local pub because hubby hates the smell of cooking cabbage. Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! It’s a big day for the Irish to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland. My family isn’t Irish, but we are Celtic. Brave Crocus Dares the Snow

Emily Dickinson wrote that “In March, the brave crocus dares the snow.” She couldn’t be more right this winter! I hope we are done with the snow, because I am looking forward to Spring and planting my garden. I already have snowdrops up, and the daffodils are poking their heads above the soil. No crocuses, which is funny considering that I love them. I will have to buy some for next year! Inside, the tomato seedlings are growing big, and I’ll have to transplant them into larger pots soon. I’ve worked out a schedule for moving them to the garage so I can harden them and get them in the ground during the first week of May. This close to the ocean, the weather is usually more temperate, and I can get started earlier! I hope so. I’m dreaming of sun-ripe Jersey tomatoes in June! Have a great Sunday! P.S. Happy National Working Moms Day

Happy National Working Moms Day! I was a working mom, and I think that’s part of the reason I’m appreciating babysitting my little grandbaby! I’m getting to do things with him and see him grow in ways I wasn’t able to with my daughter. I don’t regret being a working mom because I was able to spend a great deal of time with my daughter and provide her with a good life. We have a fabulous relationship, and I hope to have the same relationship with my grandbaby. What about you? Are you or were you a working mom? How do you feel about that?
