#WriteWed August Funk & Smell the Roses
What is it about August that has so many people in a funk? Is it that summer is almost over and we’re dreading certain things? Back to school? Although I always loved going back to school, but I know some don’t.
I’ve been in an August funk and I think I know the reasons why, but that doesn’t make it easier. Although I did see a sign on a local church the other day that I’m going to seriously take to heart and I’m going to share that with you today.
If you’re not happy with the things you have now, what makes you think you’ll be happier with more?
And I think you can think of those “things” as other than material things. I think one of my issues is that I’m a Type A personality and always striving to do more, but then what? When I reach “more” where do I go from there?
Anyway, I’m working through it and trying to change my mindset about some things, like the end of summer. And writing. And work. And getting fit.
It’s time to stop and appreciate the now and stop charging ahead to the future because the now disappears way too quickly! Like that old adage says, Stop and smell the roses!

FIGHT THE SHADOWS is part of the Shadow Ops Kindle World by CJ Lyons. This teaser is from the start of FIGHT THE SHADOWS and you meet Rose and Billy. I loved exploring what’s happening with these characters, but also introducing my own two characters, National Guardsman Patricia Morales and former Marine Rick Sanchez, as new members of the STR team.

#ManCandyMonday In search of the older hero
When I wrote TO CATCH HER MAN, I knew that the heroine’s mother, Virginia, needed a story of her own. In fact, the original version of the book had a lot more scenes in which Virginia meets sexy Pablo Amenabar, but they were deleted during the editing process.
Despite that, I loved giving Virginia a little bit of romance in that book and I do plan to eventually write her story as well as finish off Adriana and Juliana’s stories. Maybe when I have more writing time.
My question for you today, on Man Candy Monday, is: Would you like to see a story with an older hero and heroine? A “mom-lit” story with forty and fiftyish characters?
For now, here is how I pictured Pablo and Virginia!
2 Ingredient Ice Cream #FoodieFriday
It’s hard to believe. I know. I find it hard to believe as well, but the recipe says that all you need are two ingredients and 12 hours to have homemade ice cream. I am definitely going to have to try this one. Maybe add some mix-ins like crushed Oreos, a Heath Bar or Butterfinger bar. Maybe some strawberries or mango.
Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream whipped to stiff peaks
1 14 oz can condensed milk
Directions
Whip heavy cream into stiff peaks and then fold in condensed milk.
If you want to do any mix-ins, add them now. Place in airtight container and freeze for 12 hours. That’s it. The consistency of this ice cream will be more like gelato I understand, but I can’t wait to try this!

One of things I love the most about conferences is getting to see some of you when the conference is in your area! This is a photo from the RT Conference in Los Angeles! I was so lucky to be able to see my buddy Kathy! Yeah. Looking forward to seeing her again when RWA makes its way to San Diego.
#WriteWed Upcoming Projects
I want to thank everyone who has been writing to ask about series like Take a Chance, The Sin Hunters, and The Calling is Reborn. I do plan on having more stories in those series and I figured I’d tell you what’s up with me project-wise for the coming year.
I had a great time at RWA National and pitched a new contemporary romance series to two editors. I’m in the process of reaching out to someone to represent that project and hope to have it out shortly.
I’ve got a number of stories in the Jersey Girls series that I plan to have out in September, October and November. Two of the books are baseball-themed and were never published before! The third book is a Christmas-themed story.
Embrace the Night and Fight for Love are new works in the Take a Chance and The Calling is Reborn series. The plan is to have Embrace out in September and Fight for Love in October.
I’m also revisiting The Shattered, which is Sammie and Ryan’s story in the Sin Hunters series. If all goes as planned, that will be out in early 2016.
Last, but not least, I loved the thief from To Catch a Princess and am hoping to have his story for you in 2016 as well.
What’s up after that? More stories because a writing is always writing.
