You all seemed to love Henri’s visit, so I’ve decided we are going to have a week long Ghost discussion and mini-contest starting on June 25th. Prizes will include autographed copies of the latest releases from Eloisa James and Lois Winston! What do you need to do to win? Starting Monday, June 25th, just leave a comment on one of the Ghostly Blogs. It could be just a “Hello” or your own account of a ghostly happening. Writing Without a Net
I have a very special Guest Blogger today — Lynn Voedisch — a Chicago journalist and fiction writer with many years of experience working for newspapers and magazines.
Lynn’s latest release is Excited Light, “a story of magic and second chances.”
Thank you for providing this Tuesday’s Tip, Lynn!
Without a Net
There are writers who like things tidy, all neatly arranged and indexed. They probably have neat and organized houses, too. Then there are those of us who are called seat-of-the-pants writers, who work without a net and let our subconscious be our guide. I’m one of those writers who doesn’t use an outline. (My house is a mess, too.) It’s officially Not Recommended, but please understand that those of us who prefer this sort of free-form writing aren’t just flailing in the dark; we, too, have methods. Thoughtful Thursday – Do you believe in ghosts?
Today’s Thoughtful is all about ghosts and quite frankly, I don’t know what I’m doing here.
I’m Stacia, a two thousand year old vamp and I’ve had my share of supposedly wrathful wraiths who could barely cause a goosebump. But Caridad asked me to visit this little inn to meet a new friend of hers – Henri de Montmorency, the Ghostest with the Mostest. Normally I’d be disinclined for such a meeting, but it was Caridad who asked and while I am nearly invincible over most immortals and humans, for Caridad I’d do anything. After all, she is the one who created me – Stacia – and has promised to give me yet another interesting adventure next year. In Miami no less. After experiencing the passion of one particularly intriguing Cuban, I can’t wait to go south and see what Caridad plans for me. Who knows, I might finally meet a man who is a worthy match for me.

Wicked Wednesday – My Life as a Trailer Park Writer
Wicked thoughts for this Wicked Wednesday thanks to the New York Observer who recently ran an article titled “The Book Deal That Ruined My Life”. The reporter interviewed several authors whose book deals had made their lives go south. One of the authors was a sex blogger who wrote about her sexual experiences on her blog. Another was a man who spent three years writing about his dead father who heard voices. Yet another spent ten years on his second novel, lost track of friends and had trouble dealing with everyday things. Others interviewed mention the loneliness of barricading themselves in farmhouses or their apartments while working on their novels.

Zucchini Pancakes
Many many years ago, I ran across a recipe in Gourmet magazine when I was trying to find something different to do with some excess zucchini from my garden (at the bottom of the blog there’s some quick pictures of how this year’s garden is doing). Since I loved potato pancakes and my husband’s grandma’s zucchini flower fritters, a recipe for zucchini pancakes caught me eye since try as I might, I always missed picking the zucchini flowers when I should!
Over the years I adapted the recipe to make it easier and I’ve added a little variation to increase the number of veggies I’m getting in the mix and to add some color. Continue reading “Zucchini Pancakes”
Guilty Pleasures Monday – Eric Close
Now and Again there’s an actor that grab’s your attention from the get-go. Eric Close did that for me in Now and Again (LOL!) There was something boyish, charming and totally drop dead appealing about him. It was a shame that the show that got such acclaim as being the new 6 Million Dollar Man was cancelled. Shamefully, we could also no longer appreciate Eric’s lean physique and Boy-Next-Door good looks.
Luckily, he wasn’t jobless for long and is now a series regular on Without a Trace. I didn’t get into this show at the beginning, but now do not miss the reruns on TNT and the first runs on CBS.

It’s a great ensemble cast, although I wish Sam Spade (yes, that’s Poppy Montgomery’s name on the show) would stop sleeping with most of the men in the cast. Maybe this FBI Agent just needs to find a vamp like Ryder Latimer to stay faithful!
Anyhow, hope you’re enjoying this Guilty Pleasure Monday and if Eric every goes missing without a trace, you’ll know where to look . . .
Fashion Friday – Fashion for the Men in our lives
With Father’s Day almost here, maybe we could all use some clues as to what to get for the men in our lives. Where do we start? Hmm? At the basics, right? What man doesn’t put on his tighty whities or briefs first thing in the morning?
