When I first introduced Sophie and Robbie Whitaker in COLD CASE REOPENED, I wasn’t sure when I would write their stories as part of the South Beach Security series and K-9 Division spinoff. But as the series developed, I realized that the right thing to do would be to return Sophie and Robbie to Colorado so you could see what happened with Rhea and Jackson from COLD CASE REOPENED and so SBS would help solve crimes and fight for justice in a new place! The first book in the Crooked Pass Security series is CLIFFSIDE KIDNAPPING and it’s Sophie’s story. She’s in Colorado to find out why her parents have been kidnapped and is paired with CBI Agent Ryder Hunt in a thrilling and action-packed story. Plus, you get to see what’s happening with Rhea and Jackson! As a reader, I love finding out what’s happening with the characters from books that I’ve read! Happy National Houseplant Appreciation Day
Whenever I go to the local gardening center or to Longwood Gardens, my husband dreads that I’ll bring home another houseplant. I have several of them around the house because I love seeing the greenery and flowers all year long! I have quite a number of different plants, like orchids, cacti, lithops, many air plants, and some African violets. This is a photo of one of my violets and a geranium that I love and keep for cuttings for the summer garden! What about you? Do you have any houseplants? Is one your favorite?

Goodby 2024, Hello 2025
I don’t know how 2024 went by so quickly. May be it was waiting for the baby’s arrival. Maybe it was how busy we were getting ready for him and for so many other things. Regardless, 2024 flew by but there were lots of fun times and today I’m sharing some of those memories and also welcoming 2025. It looks like it’s going to be another busy year. I have a number of book conferences as well as some new books coming out starting in July with the Crooked Pass Security Series. Hubby and I are getting some time off from “work” aka the babysitting and we’re going to take a vacation together. I can’t wait for 2025. How about you? Do you have any plans for this year? P.S. You can find out more about CLIFFSIDE KIDNAPPING from the Crooked Pass Security Series at https://amzn.to/4h88TlU. And if you want to see CPS agents Sophie and Robbie in action, check them out in the other SOUTH BEACH SECURITY books at https://amzn.to/3PoCWdv.
National Clean Off Your Desk Day
Today is National Clean Off Your Desk Day and I have a confession: I don’t have a desk. Well, not a desk with a top and legs. I use a lap desk for my laptop when I write or surf the Internet. I guess it’s because I used to do the bulk of my writing on the train during my daily commute to work. Then I would spend nearly ten hours at my desk at work and when I got home, the last thing I wanted to do was sit at a desk. When I retired, there wasn’t an easy way to set up my office with a desk, and in truth, that didn’t matter to me because I like being able to move around and decide where to write. Especially in the summer, when I sit in the backyard or go up on my little balcony to write. What about you? Do you have a desk that needs cleaning off today? P.S. How about visiting South Beach Security in Miami if you need a little winter heat? Pick up your copies of DANGER IN DADE and the other books in the SBS series at https://amzn.to/3PoCWdv.

Beating the Winter Blues
We were lucky to only get a few inches of snow and I’m trying to enjoy how beautiful the snow makes everything look. Especially now when it’s so nice and clean. But as you might know, I’m not a fan of winter and so during this time of year, I try to find things that help me beat the winter blues. Sitting with a cup of tea and a good book does it sometimes. So does time with my new grandbaby. He’s just so cute and happy! What about you? What things do you do to help you beat the winter blues? P.S. (Yes, I’m reminding you again LOL!) This or That: Call or Text
Whenever I want to reach out to my daughter, I find that it’s far easier to text her than to call her. This younger generation seems to respond to texts better than calls. Personally, I prefer to reach out to someone with a call rather than a text. Despite that, I’ve resolved myself to text more with my daughter and some others since they’re more responsive that way. What about you? Would you rather call or text? P.S. Waiting for snow
We’ve had a few dustings of snow over the last month or so, including on Christmas Eve. But now we’re waiting for our first real snowfall. I doubt we’ll get much of it along the Jersey Shore but inland may be a different story. I’m planning on an easy Sunday with brunch with a friend and the kids over for dinner to do an early celebration of Los Reyes, the Epiphany. The Three Wise Men have brought some gifts for them and the new grandbaby! Plus, some writing this morning. I’m currently working on #3 in the Crooked Pass Security series. It’s a story about stopping a serial killer and a woman finally bringing to justice the man who killed her younger sister. What are your plans for Sunday? Lazy or busy? Anything fun going on?
