Happy Halloween & 99 cent sale

I love Halloween and I’m not the only one judging from all the lights and decorations on the homes around town. I love seeing what people do since some are so creative and over-the-top. I guess many of us love scary stuff and things that go bump in the night. Over the years and at various conferences, I’ve dressed up as a vampire, fairy, witch, Mickey Mouse, and so many other fun things. What about you? Do you like Halloween? Do you dress up for the holiday? P.S. If you liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the X-files you’ll love DARKNESS CALLS and it’s specially priced at 99 cents! Free Read Killer in the Kennel

One of the fun things about writing KILLER IN THE KENNEL was creating a hero that was not your typical romantic suspense hero. Jose “Pepe” Gonzalez isn’t former military or law enforcement. He’s a real estate agent. He’s also trying to build his business and run his life away from the powerful South Beach Security agency. But family is family and when his cousin Trey Gonzalez, the new head of SBS, calls for help to find a new location for a K-9 training center, Jose doesn’t hesitate to help. When it draws Jose into a race to find a serial killer before he strikes again, Jose doesn’t hesitate. Especially when that means being around newly hired K-9 trainer Sara Hernandez. I hope you’ll enjoy reading KILLER IN THE KENNEL as much I enjoyed writing it. Today I’m leaving you with this little teaser of a first encounter between Jose and Sara. Grab your copies at:

He nodded. “I’m not leaving. Not until we figure out what’s happening, and I know you’re safe. Plus, I imagine you would rather not be plastered across the news,” he said and cupped her cheek.

“I wouldn’t. People don’t understand how hard that is,” she said, and leaned into that caress, drawing comfort from it and something else. That something else that she’d been feeling about him since the moment she’d laid eyes on him.

“I do. I understand,” he said as she reached up, cradled his jaw, and ran her thumb across his lips, the gesture as intimate as any kiss.

He smiled and leaned close. Ran his thumb across her lips as his gaze traveled over her face. “You feel it too,” he said.

At her nod, he shifted closer, so close his warm breath spilled across her lips, but just then the whoosh of elevator doors had them jerking apart guiltily.

It’s that time of year when many of us will have leftover Halloween candy and admit it, you dig through the candy to haul out your favorites. I love Butterfingers and Reese’s peanut butter cups while hubby is a Milky Way fan. But that’s not the only difference in taste since I love milk chocolate and he loves dark chocolate. Happy National Black Cat Day

Happy National Black Cat Day! Years ago we made a bargain with our daughter: Get good grades and you can get a cat. She honored her part of the bargain so we did as well. The local shelter didn’t have any kittens we could adopt so we called another shelter who said, “Yes, we have a kitten, but she’s a black cat.” That didn’t bother us and we headed to get her. When we arrived, the shelter worker showed us into a large room where the cats could roam free as they didn’t believe in keeping them in cages. My daughter walked into the center of the room and this little black kitten came right up and starting winding around her legs. It was love at first sight and I hoped that this was the little kitten. It was! As we were filling out the adoption papers, the shelter worker mentioned that black cats are hard to adopt because of fears about black cats. We loved our little black cat that we named Osiris. She was with us for 17 years before she passed. What about you? Do you have a black cat? Share your photos if you do! P.S. I have not written a book with a cat. I really must remedy that in the future! But if you love books with dogs, please check out the South Beach Security K-9 Division series at https://amzn.to/3Kt2G5Q.

Comfy Fall Vibes

If you can’t make it to today’s workshop at the Ocean County Library, I hope that you’re able to curl up under a comfy blanket, pick up a good book, and read. It’s what I love doing during chilly fall days when I’m not out sneaking in a stroll along the boardwalk. I know I have only a little time left before it’s too cold to do that and I’m hunkering down against the sharp winds that hit our part of the Jersey Shore. Wishing you all a happy Saturday! P.S. Only 31 more days until the release of KILLER IN THE KENNEL! WOW! Time is flying by fast. Preorder your copy today at https://amzn.to/4f3guBN.

It’s been several years since I’ve written a paranormal romance but I loved writing them and I still have to write the last book in THE CALLING IS REBORN series. In the meantime, I’m going to use my knowledge of paranormal romance and similar genres to present a workshop at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library. Join me on Saturday, October 26th at 10:30 am for the workshop! I’ll also be selling some of my books, including my paranormal romances. For more info, please visit https://theoceancountylibrary.org/. If you can’t make it and would like to check out my dark side, DARKNESS CALLS is specially priced at 99 cents.
