Loving All Things Vintage

I’m a lover of all things vintage maybe because of the connections they create to the past or people. This vintage tin came out of a small workshop area in my mother-in-law’s old home. My mother-in-law was a great cook but not much of a baker. But her mother, my daughter’s great-grandmother, was a baker. From pizzelles to amazing cream puffs, she could make the most delicious treats! I did a little research and it turns out this tin is from the 1930s which would confirm that it was hers. I can picture her putting her 5 pound bag of flour or Bisquick into this tin to keep it fresh. P.S. If you love stories with chefs, check out SOUTH BEACH LOVE. It’s chock full of amazing food and a wonderfully sweet romance. Plus, it’s specially priced at 99 cents! Snag your copy today at https://amzn.to/3Wps3ei.

To Cover Coaster or Not?

Besides working on the new SBS Colorado romantic suspense series and spending time with the new grandson, I’ve been working on some new things to give away at book signings and to my VIP Newsletter subscribers. A friend mentioned that coasters always seemed to work well for her and when I was able to snag a deal on some blank coasters, I thought “Why not?” I’ve made the first test batch with one of my logos and now I’m wondering if I should do some with the book covers. What do you think? P.S. If you want possibly score one of these when I do give them away to VIP Newsletter Members, sign up for my newsletter at https://bit.ly/CaridadsNewsletter. You’ll be able to download a free copy of SOUTH BEACH LOVE for signing up!

Celebrate National Wine and Cheese Day

It’s National Wine and Cheese Day! Hurrah! When my husband and I were dating way back during the college years, the trendy and fun thing to do was to go a wine and cheese restaurant. They were as popular as the many microbreweries that you can now find on almost every corner. We had a favorite place where we regularly went to drink affordable wine and sample assorted cheeses and crackers. There would always be a wine bottle covered in wax from being used as a candlestick to create a romantic feel while we ate, sipped, and learned more about each other. I don’t recall seeing any wine and cheese restaurants lately and every now and then wish they’d make a comeback. For now, hubby and I share some wine and cheese on our little balcony after a relaxing day at the beach. What about you? Do you ever celebrate with some wine and cheese? P.S. I think caterer Carlo from NEVER A BRIDE, who is Portuguese, might woo Emma with a nice sampling of wine from the Duoro region in Portugal and tasty cheeses. You can find out if he does by picking up the AT THE SHORE box set, now specially priced at 99 cents for a limited time. Get your copy at https://amzn.to/3LDVe8x.

Tuesday Takeover with Meghann Whistler

I’m so excited to have fellow Harlequin author Meghann Whistler with us today and even better, she’s got a great recipe for us! Please welcome Meghann!

Do you like books that feature chefs?

The hero of my new book, Their Unlikely Protector, is a chef who can’t cook because he broke his hand!

I’m more like the heroine of this novel—she bakes cookies with refrigerated dough she bought at the store! ????

Here’s a super easy recipe for a squash casserole that even my cooking-averse heroine could make…and that my kids and I all love!

Ingredients

1 acorn squash
2 large zucchinis
4 eggs
½ cup tapioca starch
¼ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. rosemary

Instructions

Bake acorn squash until soft, 45-60 minutes at 350 degrees. Shred the zucchini with a cheese grater. Mix the cooked squash with the grated zucchini. Mix in the eggs, tapioca starch, baking soda, salt, and rosemary. Stir well.

Pour the mixture into a casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes until the top is golden. Remove from the oven and enjoy!

About the Book

Here’s a little more information about Their Unlikely Protector, which is available now!

The last person Valerie Williams expects to rescue her and her toddler twin brothers from a fiery blaze is Brett Richardson, her high school nemesis. But with her house burned down, Valerie is forced to stay at the same inn as Brett and work with him on the town festival. Now Brett has the chance to make things right, but can Valerie let go of the past to make way for a future together?
