This or That-Cowboys or Military Heroes

Good morning! It’s time for another this or that! This time it’s about romance novel heroes, namely cowboys or military heroes. I’ve written many books with military heroes, but cowboys not so much. In fact, the closest I’ve come to a cowboy hero is police officer Jackson Whitaker from COLD CASE REOPENED. You’ll get to see more of Jax (and heroine Rhea) in the first book of the Colorado-based South Beach Security spinoff (Late 2025). But for now, let me know who you like to see more of in your romance novels: Cowboys or Military heroes? P.S. – If you love military heroes, the new SBS K-9 series is full of them. If you like them sexier, check out the steamy Take a Chance military romance series at https://amzn.to/45XSBb8.

Happy National Strawberry Sundae Sunday

Who doesn’t love an ice cream sundae? There are so many possible combinations and I have to confess, I do mix up my ice creams and toppings if I am having a sundae. Some of my favorites are strawberry ice cream with hot fudge (think chocolate-covered strawberries). Another favorite is a strawberry sundae, whether vanilla ice cream or strawberry ice cream with strawberry sauce! Are you seeing a pattern here? Yes, I’m one of those people who loves strawberry ice cream, but I also love other fruit flavors like cherry vanilla and mango. Another fav: Carvel’s Fudgie the Whale with those tasty chocolate crunchies inside. What about you? What’s your fav sundae or ice cream? P.S. – Have a fabulous Sunday! I hope you enjoy whatever you’re doing today!

Thank you for the review!

Thank you for the review, Roberta! Reviews really are one of the very best ways that you can help support an author. We appreciate you taking the time to read the book and put your thoughts down in a review. Reviews can also be helpful because it gives an author an idea of what you liked and didn’t like in a story. This way we are hopefully becoming better authors! This review from Roberta is for SABOTAGE OPERATION, my May release. You can grab your copy at https://amzn.to/45vdUiP.

Meet K-9 Heroine Missy

One of the most fun things about writing the South Beach Security K-9 Division Spinoff was learning about all the different breeds of dogs that would be the heroes in the stories and matching each dog to the story that would best show off their skills. For ESCAPE THE EVERGLADES which as you might guess is set in the Everglades, I chose Labrador Retriever Missy to be the heroine because Labs are great in watery situations and are also great for search and rescue. What was also interesting was creating backstories for the K-9s in much the same way I would for the main protagonists. Missy was K-9 Agent Natalie’s partner in the Army and both were injured in battle when an IED exploded near them. Both Natalie and Missy were injured and still suffer from their time in military service. It was important for me to highlight those issues that so many of our military men and women carry around and give Natalie and Missy a happily ever after! If you love stories with action, military heroes, and romance, this might be the book for you! Snag your copy today at https://amzn.to/3zBqiD5.

Happy 4th of July

A very happy 248th birthday to America! God bless this amazing Nation that has given me and my family so much. Thank you for the freedom and opportunities that have let us achieve the American Dream. Thank you to the military men, women, and families who sacrifice so much so that we may be safe and free. I hope you all have a joyous 4th of July!

Meet the Heroine

One of the things I wanted to do with this series was to give the heroines a very active role in the action. That’s especially true of SBS K-9 Agent Natalie Rodriguez, the heroine in ESCAPE THE EVERGLADES. Natalie was a K-9 handler in the Army and she and her dog Missy suffer from PTSD issues that have presented a number of problems in civilian life. Luckily, Natalie met SBS head Trey Gonzalez at an event for veterans and they clicked. When he offered her a job in SBS’s new K-9 division, Natalie jumped at the chance. Natalie is smart and honorable. When she left the military, she fought hard to bring her K-9 Missy, a Labrador Retriever, back to the States with her. When Natalie and Missy are thrust together with Carlos and Luke, his ten-year-old son, it’s a natural fit that will help all of them heal and find happiness. ESCAPE THE EVERGLADES is an action-packed story, but it’s also filled with emotional and uplifting scenes that will tug at your heartstrings. Snag your copy today at https://amzn.to/3zBqiD5.

Military Hero

Meet Hero Carlos Ruiz

One of the best parts of writing a story is coming up with the characters and giving them unique attributes to bring them alive for readers. In ESCAPE THE EVERGLADES, the hero is ex-Marine Carlos Ruiz, a widower with a ten-year-old son. Carlos lost his wife in car crash and is now raising his son alone while also running an Everglades tour company. A determined environmentalist, Carlos uses his business and skills to try and preserve the unique Everglades habitat. It is during a trip to check on a female jaguar that Carlos had tagged that he and his son run across poachers stealing alligator eggs. Although Carlos and his son are able to escape when the poachers fire on them, a series of incidents at the business force Carlos to call on his friend and SBS head Trey Gonzalez for protection. I loved writing Carlos who is a dedicated single dad and business owner. Carlos has a big and loving heart and it was a joy to bring him together with SBS K-9 Agent Natalie Rodriguez. I hope you’ll love him too! Snag your copy today at https://amzn.to/3zBqiD5.
