There is something about the 4th of July along the Jersey Shore that just screams “America” to me. The parade with both the crowd and parade people in their red, white and blue. The carefree glee of the kids as they dash to pick up the candy being tossed from the various parade vehicles. Feeling your heart swell as the band plays “It’s a Grand Ol’ Flag” or our veterans go buy and the crowd cheers for them. People huddled on the sand, waiting anxiously for that first boom and flash of light as the fireworks start.

Here is one of my favorites – people illuminated along the beach by the light from the fireworks. It was kind of eerie to see, especially as the smoke from the fireworks built up and created a kind of haze along the beachfront.
