4th of July Parade and Fireworks

There is something about the 4th of July along the Jersey Shore that just screams “America” to me. The parade with both the crowd and parade people in their red, white and blue. The carefree glee of the kids as they dash to pick up the candy being tossed from the various parade vehicles. Feeling your heart swell as the band plays “It’s a Grand Ol’ Flag” or our veterans go buy and the crowd cheers for them. People huddled on the sand, waiting anxiously for that first boom and flash of light as the fireworks start.

All-American to me. I guess that’s why I love it so much! I hope you’ll enjoy seeing the photos as well down below. If you can’t see the photos, you can click here to see them.

Here is one of my favorites – people illuminated along the beach by the light from the fireworks. It was kind of eerie to see, especially as the smoke from the fireworks built up and created a kind of haze along the beachfront.

What does the Red, White & Blue Mean to You?

This morning as I was walking through Bryant Park, the Proctor & Gamble people were running a promotion for TIDE. On the great lawn was a huge display of red, white and blue along with Tweets from hundreds of Americans as to what the red, white and blue meant to them.

So I’m going to tell you what it means to me on the eve of our Nation’s birthday and ask you to share what it means to you!

When my family was forced to flee the tyranny of Castro’s Cuba, there was only one Nation that my mother would have chosen for us: the United States of America. My mom knew that only in this great land would we have the opportunity to be whatever we wanted as long as we were willing to work hard for it. She knew that we would have the Liberty to speak our mind without a dictator shutting us down. She knew that we would have the Freedom envisioned by America’s founders to not have government intrude in our personal lives.

That is what the red, white and blue means to me. That is what I will believe because I am an American first and foremost. God bless those military men, women and families who fight the hard fight for us so that we might have such liberties and freedom.

So what does the red, white and blue mean to you?

A little more Down Under #ManCandyMonday

You asked for it and you got it! Today we’ve got some more Down Under Man Candy. Man oh man, our Aussie ladies have been holding out on us. Shame on them keeping these gorgeous men to themselves.

But you know what’s even better about these lovely men? They got naked for a cause, namely, for a breast cancer charity calendar. God bless them!

Hope you enjoy today’s Gods of Football Trailer! If you can’t see the video, you can click here to see it!

It’s Puppy Time!

Last week I shared with you some adorable kittens and since I want to have an equal opportunity Fun Friday, this morning it’s puppies! Golden retriever puppies and dare you not to love them.

Sadly, as much as I love these kinds of dogs, I’m highly allergic to them. I get near one and I start wheezing and get hives if they rub up against me. A real shame since I think they are beautiful!

NIGHT OF THE COUGAR Erotic Paranormal Romance June 2012

It’s Wicked Wednesday and that means it’s time for a little sexy teaser! Today I’m sharing something from NIGHT OF THE COUGAR, my June erotic paranormal romance novella for the Nocturne Cravings line.

This is a story of reunited lovers and I just love that kind of story line. I always wonder what made it not work the first time around and how this time things will be different, especially when the heroine, Jamie Morrison, is facing a very different man from the man with whom she first fell in love.

Here’s a little teaser for the story:

Reporter Jamie Morrison got the scoop of a lifetime when she snagged a meeting with bestselling author Galen Hawke, but their rendezvous didn’t end with an interview. Their immediate attraction led to a wicked night together and a plan to meet again—until an accident left Galen changed forever….

Now, one year later, Jamie is sent to interview Galen once more. When a snowstorm strands them together in his remote mountain lodge, they are both eager to explore their reawakened passion. But will Jamie stay by Galen’s side when she discovers what he’s become?

Also a little behind the scenes: Jamie was the original name of the heroine from THE CLAIMED. However, since there was already another woman with a man’s name – Sammie – there was some concern that readers might be confused. Sammie had appeared in earlier books in the series and so I couldn’t change her name. Instead, I changed the heroine’s name to Victoria. But I still loved the Jamie name and since NIGHT OF THE COUGAR is very much about a man and a woman, I decide to use that name for the heroine!
