Happy Friday and Local Summer

Happy Friday! I can’t believe that it’s the unofficial end of summer! I am so looking forward to a relaxing weekend and the start of local summer. That’s what they call it on the Jersey Shore when all the tourist and summer visitors are gone! I plan on spending some time in the garden and also, a lot of time reading on the beach. How about you? Any special plans?

First Harvests of the Season

The garden is looking well and we’ve already pulled out some radishes, tomatoes, and a couple of chili peppers. Basil, parsley, and celery are doing great as are most of the herbs except for the cilantro. I’ve never had any luck with it and won’t plant it again. I’ll share some flowers of the garden tomorrow but for now, a photo of my first real harvest. Not sure I’ll eat the nasturtium flowers, but I’m loving them in the garden! So many blooms! I’ll definitely plant them again next year.

Manatees, Turtles, and Rockets

Since we had a little time before the first big event yesterday, we decided to do something we rarely get to do at conferences: See the local area. We started the morning by visiting a manatee sanctuary. Unfortunately, no manatees but some nice shells. We then went to Jetty Park and explored that area, including walking onto a pier to chat with local fishermen and search for sea turtles. Success!! We did manage to see a few sea turtles near the jetty. While looking at the turtles, we ran across a group of Fire and Rescue men training for water rescues. Wow! Can you say amazing and handsome for many of them! Finally, I was also able to see the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center and I am going there this morning to watch the launch of a SpaceX rocket. Then we had a nice lunch before hanging out with friends at the conference. With another short break, we checked out a local distillery we had noticed earlier. It was so much fun! Then it was time for the first event of the conference: a Meet and Greet where I got to make some new friends and spend time with old ones. Having a blast so far! No pun intended.

Happy Cinco de Mayo Birthday

It’s hard to believe that over nine years ago our little furbaby came into our lives. We had been feeding two feral cats when one of them had kittens. Unfortunately, some of them didn’t make it, but three did and also started coming up to visit. We had decided to keep one that seemed a little smaller than the rest of the kittens. At one point one of the older cats had even left him as a “gift” before the mom took him back. When the family left him behind one day and he was sleeping alone, tucked inside one of our flower pots, I decided it was time to adopt him. He was instantly domesticated and part of our family! Happy Cinco de Mayo birthday, Slate. We are so glad you came into our lives. And yes, we’re as shocked as you that it’s been nine years since you were born!

Cat vs. Bird

Our cat loves to go out on the balcony in the summer, but when it’s too cold, he just hangs out by the door and watches the world go. Sometimes the world comes right up to tease him like when these two doves decided to do a little loving right on the balcony. The cat was intrigued and ready to pounce. Luckily for the birds, the screen door was closed. Hope you enjoyed this Friday Funny and have a great weekend. I’ll be at the Brookhollow Winery with 65+ other authors! So excited for these two days of wine and romance and if you’re near Columbia, NJ, I hope you’ll drop by! The book signings on Saturday and Sunday are from 12 pm to 4 pm.

Mets Opening Day

I wrote “The End” on #3 in the South Beach Security series this morning and before I start some final cleanup, I’m off to Mets Opening Day at Citi Field. Like so many Mets fans I hope this will be the year! I plan on having lots of fun at the game and hope you also have a fun Friday!

Happy Friday! Freedom and a Margarita are almost here!

Happy Friday! I always used to wait for Friday afternoon because I knew by the time 3:OO pm rolled around I was only a couple of hours from freedom and maybe a margarita. Possibly pizza since that was always our welcome-to-the-weekend dinner. Today will be a little different since I’ll be with my writing conference buddies preparing for tomorrow’s conference and book fair. We’re expecting an excellent turnout and I hope you can make it if you’re in the area! Remember: 4:30 to 6:30 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hamilton, NJ. I’ll have my latest releases available including the three books in the South Beach Security series. I’ll also have some earlier releases and goodies for anyone who buys one of the books! I hope you can come by.
