We had a lovely day at the Belmar Beach Book Fair yesterday at the lovely Taylor Pavilion! What a beautiful location to combine some of my favorite things: the beach, books, my daughter, little baby Axel, and my friends and neighbors. Thank you to everyone who came by and supported this wonderful event run by the Belmar Public Library. It was great to spend time with you and talk about books. If you couldn’t get there, no fear. It’s hard to believe that summer has flown by and it’s the first day of fall! Along my neck of the Jersey Shore, it’s Local Summer and it’s been glorious. We’ve had some 80-degree days, but most days are in the comfortable 70s dipping down to refreshing nights in the 60s. Plus lots of sun and very little rain. I’ve had to water the garden a lot since I have a last bumper crop of tomatoes I’ve shared with neighbors and my daughter. I hope your end of summer is going well and that fall treats you well too! It’s National Banana Split Day and who doesn’t love a good banana split! It’s been forever since I’ve had one but with the end of summer drawing close so quickly, it may be time to hop on over to the local ice cream shop and grab one. My favorite part of the banana split was having hot fudge on the strawberry ice cream. It’s one of my favorite combos although I’ve got a new favorite ice cream now thanks to Callie’s Creamery in Neptune City, NJ! They’ve got a fabulous chocolate peanut butter ice cream. A couple of months ago we had a fantastic workshop by the fabulous Siera London! My daughter was so inspired that she decided to hire her book cover designer to create a new profile picture for me to use on my social media and I LOVE IT! Samantha Ann sent this wonderful artist one of her favorite pictures of me and here’s the awesome result. What do you think? Today I’m sharing some photos of the midsummer flowers gracing my garden. Others are still holding strong, like the regular hydrangeas and echinacea. But now it’s time for hollyhocks, butterfly bushes, Black-eyed Susan, phlox, Angelonia, Limelight hydrangeas, and so many more. There are also lots of tomatoes, eggplants, basil and thyme but the parsley has not done well at all. Maybe because the swallowtail butterfly caterpillars ate it? That has me hoping to see some of those butterflies soon! Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Sunday!
