Happy National Iced Tea Day

Happy National Iced Tea Day! I don’t normally drink a lot of iced tea, even in the summer. I’ve become more of a seltzer girl. But when I do drink iced tea, it’s definitely sweet tea or an Arnold Palmer. What about you? Are you an iced tea fan? Do you like it sweet or unsweet? P.S. I can totally picture the best friends in the AT THE SHORE series sipping iced teas on the beach! If you need some good beach reads this summer, grab your copies today at https://amzn.to/43MU8jy. If you do e-books, the first one in the series — ONE SUMMER NIGHT — is specially priced at 99 cents.

Tempting Teaser from Cliffside Kidnapping

I am so excited about the launch of the new Crooked Pass Security series. It’s wonderful to finally give tech geniuses Robbie and Sophie Whitaker their stories and introduce new and amazing characters, including some loveable canines, in the new stories. In CLIFFSIDE KIDNAPPING, the first book in the series, Sophie meets Colorado Bureau of Investigation agent Ryder Hunt who will help her find out who has kidnapped her parents and why. In this teaser, Sophie and Ryder are at Ryder’s vacation home in Regina. Sophie is working while Ryder has fallen asleep after being injured during the chase of a suspect. CLIFFSIDE KIDNAPPING comes out July 1. Pre-order your copy today at https://amzn.to/4iV4R1G.

A soft snore yanked her attention away from her search.

Ryder had fallen asleep on the sofa, the laptop close to falling off his stomach. Delilah lay on her doggie bed beside the couch, looking like a gigantic dead cockroach with her stubby little legs up in the air and her tongue lolling out of her mouth.

She couldn’t fault Ryder for falling asleep. He’d been going hard on the investigation even after being struck by the car.

But that also reminded her that since he had a concussion, it would be good to check that his sleep seemed normal without waking him. He’d only had a light concussion and sleep was a good way for him to heal.

Plus, it’s late, past midnight, she thought with a glance at her smartphone. Time for her to get some rest so she could be sharp in the morning.

Easing from the table, she tiptoed to his side and snared the laptop midair as it finally slid off his lap.

He jerked away and also reached for it, realizing what had happened.

She offered him an apologetic smile and said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to wake you.”

“No, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to fall asleep, but working on the computer was giving me a massive headache and I closed my eyes for just a second,” he said and sat up, the leather creaking loudly with his motion.

Sophie kneeled by the sofa, handed him back his laptop, and brushed away a lock of his hair that had slipped down onto his forehead. His hair was silky beneath her fingers, tempting her to brush it back a second time.

When her gaze drifted from that action to his face, she realized he was watching her intently. So intently, it caused a skitter of awareness deep in her core and heat to flood her face.

She jerked her hand away. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to invade your space.”

“Invade at will,” he said, his voice husky as he tenderly skimmed his knuckle across the blush on her cheek.

She did, rising to press her lips to his and explore the attraction she’d been feeling since they’d first met.

His lips were hard beneath hers. Warm. Mobile. Tempting her to go back over and over to sample the contours of his mouth and the press of his chest as he wrapped an arm around her and tugged her closer.

He nodded. “I’m not leaving. Not until we figure out what’s happening, and I know you’re safe. Plus, I imagine you would rather not be plastered across the news,” he said and cupped her cheek.

“I wouldn’t. People don’t understand how hard that is,” she said, and leaned into that caress, drawing comfort from it and something else. That something else that she’d been feeling about him since the moment she’d laid eyes on him.

“I do. I understand,” he said as she reached up, cradled his jaw, and ran her thumb across his lips, the gesture as intimate as any kiss.

He smiled and leaned close. Ran his thumb across her lips as his gaze traveled over her face. “You feel it too,” he said.

At her nod, he shifted closer, so close his warm breath spilled across her lips, but just then the whoosh of elevator doors had them jerking apart guiltily.

Intriguing Hero from KILLER IN THE KENNEL

I’ve written lots of books with either military heroes or law enforcement. They’re your typical alpha heroes but heroes come in all shapes and sizes and sometimes it’s the hero you don’t expect that’s the most interesting. That’s why I love Jose “Pepe” Gonzalez from KILLER IN THE KENNEL. A successful real estate agent, he’s avoided getting involved with the South Beach Security side of his family because he doesn’t want to be involved in their danger and because he wants to make his own way in life, free of their powerful influence in the Miami community. But when family needs help, Jose doesn’t refuse the call. And when it gets dangerous for beautiful K-9 trainer Sara Hernandez, Jose doesn’t hesitate to help Sara and SBS in their race to find a serial killer before he kills again! Today I’ve got a short teaser from KILLER IN THE KENNEL for you! I hope you enjoy it and if you do, grab your copy of KILLER IN THE KENNEL and my December 24th release, DANGER IN DADE, at https://amzn.to/4dt8sk3.

“I was sad to leave my family in New Jersey, but I knew it was the right thing to do.”

“Do you miss them? You’re a long way from home,” Jose said.

She nodded. “I do, but I’ll go home for Thanksgiving in a few weeks, and I have some cousins in Miami. I’ll visit them once I get settled.”

“Because family is important,” he said, sadness evident in the tone of his voice.

“Why does that seem to make you sad?” she asked.

He ripped his gaze from her to peer down into his glass as if it held the answer. With another awkward shake of his head, he said, “I sometimes wish I did want to be part of SBS. Work with them. Understand why they do what they do.”

“Now’s your chance.” The words escaped her before she could bite them back.
