Beauties and the Beast #ThrowbackThursday

A few years ago we did a family vacation to Disney and had a blast. The only thing we didn’t like was coming back to the aftermath of a snow and ice storm and having to chip and dig our way into the driveway!

One of the hightlights of the trip was our dinner at the Be Our Guest restaurant and meeting the beast! From the moment my best bud and I walked into the castle, we were enchanted. Of course, the guys were like “Where’s the food?”, but we were oohing and aahing over the ballroom ceiling, west wing and of course, meeting the beast in the library!

I’ll be back in the area for the RWA National Conference and if you’ll be down there, I’d love to get together with you!

#ThrowbackThursday Time to Leave . . .

I’ve always thought that you can’t know where you’re going, if you don’t acknowledge where you’ve been. For good or bad, every step in your life leaves a mark. Like in this picture. I’m pretty sure this is a photo of me for my passport when we were leaving Cuba. I must have been about 3 or so. My parents were already in the U.S. and my maternal grandparents were watching my sister and me. We were stuck in Cuba because the Castro regime had taken away our passports because my parents had left. Soldiers would come and harass the family regularly. My parents finally found a way to get us out and to get us in the U.S. It was a scary time in my life and I think it shows in this photo. I think inside of me there is still that scared little girl at times until the woman I’ve become rises up and reminds me that surviving all that has made me strong.

50 Book & RITA Pin #ThrowbackThursday

With the RWA Conference coming up in July, I’m so excited. I’m getting together promo items, I’ve got a date with some new RWA members for a trip to Disney, other dates with my agent and publisher, a signing . . . SO MUCH TO BE EXCITED ABOUT.

And I’ve divested all the assorted pins from my badge holder and have left only two for now: My 50 Book Pin and my RITA nomination pin. So that’s today’s Throwback! My two pins.

Bradley Beach Memorial Day & June #Giveaway #AtTheShore #ThrowbackThursday

Good morning and happy June! With the sun coming out finally, it truly is a happy way to start the month! Today’s Throwback Thursday is to the Bradley Beach Memorial Day Parade. As I’ve mentioned, Bradley Beach is one of my fav beach towns and its gazebos were an inspiration for those in the At the Shore Contemporary Romance series.

Hope you enjoyed those photos! Also, I’m having a month long contest to celebrate the release of ONE SUMMER NIGHT. You can visit the post below to enter!

A Possible Goodbye to the Circus Diner #ThrowbackThursday

There are some things that have been around forever and are embedded in people’s minds and hearts. The Circus Diner is one of those things because of its uniqueness and longevity. It has been around for 63 years in Wall Township and is an iconic emblem of the Jersey Shore.

Sadly, the property has been sold and it looks like the new owner has no interest in running a restaurant. While the township is discussing what can be done to preserve what should be a landmark, it seems that little can be done. You can read and see more about the Circus diner by clicking here.

For now, some pictures from one of my visits to this truly unique place.

My Best Friend & Buffy #ThrowbackThursday

My daughter and I used to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer together off and on. Me more than my daughter, but she indulged me about it. This is a photo of us all dressed and ready for the Season 6 premiere. We had a fun time watching at our little party and even had some friends join us for the show.

Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the show first came on the air.
