Today’s Throwback Thursday isn’t that far a throwback – just to this past Tuesday when we did our annual jaunt into New York City for the Christmas decorations. The video below is of the window displays at various New York City department stores – Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Sak’s and Bergdorf Goodman. #ThrowbackThursday My Dad
I’ve posted lots of photos of other family members, but not my dad. A lot of people say that I look like him and in this photo, I can kind of see the resemblance. My father could be distant and yet, amazingly romantic and sentimental. One of my most vivid memories of that was of one of the first times he took me to learn to drive. We were in a parking lot and I was tooling around when I heard a sniffle and saw him wiping his eyes. I asked him why and he said that it was because I was holding the wheel just like his dad used to hold the wheel.
I never really knew my dad’s dad. My dad’s parents were divorced and his dad had remarried and stayed in Cuba after all of us left. He died in Cuba when I was a teenager and I know my father felt his loss since it had been so long since he had seen him.
Anyway, here is a picture of my dad as a young boy.

It was difficult for me to write EMBRACE THE NIGHT. The Army hero, Zack Taylor, is a below-the-knee amputee and imagining how he would feel as he returns to civilian life was tough. I also did a good amount of research to learn about how Zack would do some of the activities he used to do before he was wounded in battle.
It was also rough to handle the heroine, Samantha Whittaker. You met Samantha in ONE NIGHT OF PLEASURE and she is as wounded as Zack, but just in a different way.
In EMBRACE THE NIGHT, these two find the strength to deal with their physical and emotional wounds through the power of love. I hope you’ll check out this new novella in the TAKE A CHANCE military romance series.

Yogurt Chicken Salad with Dates #FoodieFriday
I’m not a big fan of wasting food and this weekend I made some roast chicken and had leftovers. I decided, Why not make some chicken salad? Of course, I’m trying to not have too much fat, so I decided to experiment a little and the result was quite tasty. So today’s Foodie Friday entry is a healthier chicken salad made with low fat greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise. Another nice thing about this salad is that you can really play with it. If you want it spicier, add a few shots of Tabasco or Cholula hot sauce. For a little crunch, some chopped walnuts or pecans. Sweeter? How about some grape quarters? The possibilities are endless.
Ingredients
2 cups roasted chicken, diced
1 cup low fat greek yogurt
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
4-6 dates chopped
Directions
Mix all of the above ingredients and voila! A healthier chicken salad. Not only lower in fat, but if you get a greek yogurt that has live cultures, lots of probiotics. Not to mention that dates are a great source of dietary fiber, iron, potassium, anti-oxidant flavenoids and other minerals. A win-win.

#ThrowbackThursday My Mom
It’s hard to believe sometimes that my mom has been gone from my life more than she was in it. Weird, because she made such a lasting impression on my character. She was my best friend and my mentor besides being my mom. She was also someone who always pushed me to do more, which isn’t necessarily a good thing because sometimes she pushed too much. I see myself pushing too much sometimes and have to really pull back from that because it can be damaging as well.
But anyway, here’s my mom when she was maybe in her twenties. A beautiful woman as well as smart and determined.
