The Grumpy/Sunshine trope has become very popular, but I confess that I still prefer sweetheart heroes like Mark Dillon from BURIED TRUTHS. Mark is a K-9 police officer on a hike when an injured and very confused woman stumbles into his path. Mark jumps into action, only to discover that the woman can’t remember her name or anything about why she’s there. She only knows that she’s in danger. Mark’s protective instincts kick in, and even after it appears that she’s a criminal, he can’t stop caring about her because he’s a really good guy. A sweetheart. Just the kind of hero I like.
