I love Halloween! When I was a kid, we didn’t have the money to go buy any fancy costumes so we did the best we could to transform into hobos, vampires, werewolves, or witches. On Halloween night there would be swarms of kids walking around my Levittown neighborhood clutching pillowcases to hold all the loot we would get from our neighbors! When I became a mom, hubby and I would dress up our daughter every Halloween and take her around. As she got older it was usually one of the princesses but when she was a baby we decided she’d be Supergirl, flying around Metropolis to protect its citizens! LOL. This is her making her rounds on Halloween night.
Grab Yourself a Ghostly Romance
It’s that time of year for a ghostly romance so why not grab yourself a copy of Ghost of a Chance, my murder mystery novella filled with ghosts, bootleggers during Prohibition, a haunted Jersey Shore mansion, an unexpected romance, and a million dollar prize! Here’s a teaser for it:
True crime writer Tracy Gomez was caught off guard by an unusual offer from New York City attorney Peter Angelo. A cool million bucks is up for grabs to anyone who solves the mystery of three deaths that happened decades ago. Tracy, desperate for cash to fix up her new inn and give her writing career a boost, is tempted by the offer. But, solving this murder mystery is not an easy task! But Tracy encounters unexpected help from the other side during a séance, and to add to her troubles, she’s falling for the sexy attorney overseeing the contest. Can Tracy crack the case and win a prize far more valuable than a million dollars?

Amazing Adventures in the Black Forest
One of the most memorable stops on our Rhine River Cruise was the Black Forest. This lush land was once the home of Celts, Allemanni, and Romans. But the forest has undergone a transformation, from deciduous trees and firs to pines and other speedy growers, due to the human impact of logging. Our journey led us to Gutach, where we explored a recreation of a traditional village and uncovered the secret of the bollenhut – a hat with fluffy, oversized pompoms worn by women. Red pompoms for the single ladies, and black for those who’ve tied the knot. Hubby’s take on the bollenhuts? The women are mourning the loss of their single life! LOL! It was so interesting to see how Germans lived in the past and I loved seeing their colorful gardens. I also learned something interesting. Genius, right? I’m already planning to fill my garden with them next year. Check out the photos in this video, and if you’re curious about our other Rhine River Cruise adventures, take a peek at https://www.caridad.com/2023/09/19/happy-visit-to-frankfurt/ and https://www.caridad.com/2023/10/03/strasbourg-alsace-region/.
Young Buck or Silver Fox?
You guys always surprise me with your This or That picks! You love hairy chests and burly men, something completely different from what you normally see on romance novel covers. Today, I’ve got another challenge for you! Will you surprise me again? Would you rather see a young buck on the cover, or will you heat up the night with a dashing silver fox in your steamy stories?

Happy Halloween Memories
With Halloween only a few weeks away, I thought I’d share a photo of my daughter and I on her very first Halloween! Sammie was dressed up as a mummy for her mum! LOL! What about you? Did you have any favorite Halloween costumes you wore or that you put on your kids?

A reader lives a thousand lives
I’m going to spill the beans this morning: I was that kid who devoured everything in sight! From Captain Crunch boxes to the entire encyclopedia, I was a reading demon. I couldn’t wait to head to the library to grab a fresh read, and my summer excitement was waiting for the bookmobile’s arrival! Why was I such a book nerd? Because every time I opened a book, I traveled to a new place and time, living a whole new life! Reading taught me so much, and thanks to an amazing teacher in the fifth grade in Levittown, I realized I could write my own stories and take others on awesome adventures. I owe her, because she opened up a whole new world of opportunities for me. If you need a little stuck pick-me-up, grab a new book, and come experience something new and exciting!
