What do you do to avoid dangerous burnout?

Burnout. There’s an old Chinese proverb that says “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” But even if you love what you’re doing, it can feel like too much sometimes. Too many pages to write, too many e-mails to check, too many things to do! It can all become too much and to avoid reaching the point of burnout, I set aside time to read, create something, or garden. Gardening is actually one of my favorite ways to unwind and there are studies that show that getting your hands in the soil can help with depression! Why? Gardening helps release serotonin thanks to bacteria in the soil. Amazing right? But how about you? What do you do to avoid burnout?

Perfect Superman Tyler Hoechlin Caridad’s Man Crush

I haven’t done a Man Crush Monday in a long time and I figured it was well past time to share this hottie with you again! I just love Tyler Hoechlin and I hope you do as well. Tyler has been in favorites like Seventh Heaven and Teen Wolf and is now playing Superman on the new Superman and Lois. Tyler is the perfect Superman and I love the concept of having Lois and Superman deal with real-life dilemmas as the parents of teenaged sons. You can check out Superman and Lois on the CW and GOOD NEWS — It’s already been renewed for a second season!

I could also totally imagine Tyler as the hero in one of my romance novels! Maybe Southern Vampire Ryder Latimer from The Calling is Reborn vampire novel series. What do you think?

The Best Way to Spend a Holiday Weekend

There is no more perfect way to spend a holiday weekend than with family and I know many of you are missing that! I hope you get to see your family and friends soon! With both Passover and Easter coming over the weekend, how are you spending the holiday weekend? For me, it’s definitely with family, namely, my hubby, daughter, and her husband. (Still hard to think of my little baby as married, but yes, she is!) Oops, and Donald. Don’t want to forget our favorite duck.

Happy Easters Over the Years with Caridad and Her Family

With Easter just days away I thought I’d share some photos of our family Easters over the years! As kids we always got dressed up and we often went into Manhattan to do the 5th Avenue Easter parade. One very special Easter we also went to Radio City Music Hall to see The Sound of Music. It was so exciting to do that and also very emotional since I deeply identified with the Von Trapp family as they made their escape from Austria over the Alps. It made me think about how my family had escaped Cuba to make it to the United States. So here goes with our Easter of the years with my sis, grandma, and mother.

Celebrate Caridad’s Good News and More!

Thank you all for the wonderful reviews and comments on Cold Case Reopened! I truly appreciate your support for my very first Harlequin Intrigue. If you enjoyed this book, I think you will really like Trapping a Terrorist, my next Harlequin Intrigue. Here is a little teaser for it!

    Trapping a Terrorist

An FBI agent puts everything on the line…

To keep a deadly threat at bay.

When FBI agent Miguel Peters and his father land squarely in the crosshairs of a bomber terrorizing Seattle, the last thing Miguel wants is to also entangle a lovely stranger in a terrorist’s web. Yet while Maisy Oliver might look innocent, her father’s one of the most notorious men in Washington State. Miguel knows Maisy will do anything to help him and his team catch a killer. But does that include confronting a past she’s worked far too long to forget?

You can find out more about Trapping a Terrorist at https://www.caridad.com/books/suspense/trapping-a-terrorist/.

My hubby teases me that I often “bury the lede” which is true in this case. I like to think that I’ve left the best news for last, namely, that I’ve agreed to do another four — yes 4! — for Harlequin Intrigue. If you’ve read Cold Case Reopened and remember Jackson’s Miami cousins Sophie and Robbie Whitaker, you’ll see more of them in my Liberty Agency series! Yeah! So excited to be sharing this news with you.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

No matter the accolades that I might have, like Bestselling Author, Best Mom, etc., deep down inside I often feel like an imposter. We all feel like that sometimes. Imposter syndrome can be really negative and hurtful. So what can you do about it? Instead of focusing on those things that you feel you haven’t accomplished, how about congratulating yourself on what you have done! What do you think? Share some things that you’ve accomplished.
