Senior Prom Time #TBT #ThrowbackThursday

OMG, while downsizing I have found so many amazing things! Photos of our first house renovation where we popped the top on our 1950s ranch. Family photos I hadn’t seen in some time. A scrapbook from a trip to Boston. Old photos from college and this gem – my Senior Prom table photo! Wow. So hard to believe it’s been that long. OMG how I worked and scrimped and saved to by this Laura Ashley dress that I fell in love with during a shopping trip with my girlfriends! We had such a lovely time even though I didn’t think my date would show up. He ran late and we missed a pre-prom party, but despite that, we had a wonderful time.

Happy Halloween!

A friend and I were chatting this morning and remembering our Halloweens as kids. There wasn’t a lot of extra money in either of our households so costumes were generally homemade. A sheet with holes and you were a ghost. My mom had this weird plaid quilt kind of shirt which only came out when we decided to be hobos, complete with a stick, dangling baggage, and dirt on our faces. Her favorite was going as Josie of Pussycat fame with a black body suit, tights, and a tail her grandmother had made. Then there was a time in college when my sis, then boyfriend now hubby, and I went to a Halloween party. Sis made an awesome Cowardly Lion, I was Mickey and hubby was Dracula. We had a blast! Hubby’s cape weighed a fortune and was courtesy of his sis who got us the fabric at her company store! The good ol’ days. Take a moment to share your fav Halloween memories and photos!

#ThrowbackThursday – A Visit to Disney and our fav Beast

Time flies so fast! This picture is from five or so years back when we did a family trip to Disney and got to meet the Beast. My fav from my fav movie (the animated version). As we get ready for my daughter’s upcoming wedding, I hope to bring a little of that Disney magic so that she can be a princess for a day as she weds her Prince Charming.

Wisdom Wednesday: Don’t let fear hold you back. . .

There are lots of scary things in life. Fear of heights, death, spiders, blue sky . . . I’m kidding about the last although there may be some out there who don’t like blue skies overhead.

The important thing is not to let fear keep you from doing something. If you follow me you know that I am really afraid of heights, but I force myself onto planes and have even climbed some tall places (a Mexican temple and Notre Dame) in order to experience something unique.

When I write, I take a risk that’s not only a professional one, but personal as well. There is a little bit of me in every book and criticism is tough to take. Despite that, I do it because I love sharing things I love with you. If some don’t like it, so be it. The sharing is worth the risk and any possible criticism.

So for now, I’ll leave you with a quote from Aristotle that is in part about taking risks:

#ThrowbackThursday – My Little One

Downsizing is such a pain, but sometimes there are some good things about it besides getting rid of stuff. Like finding stuff. While cleaning out some picture frames I found this cute little photo behind a later one. This is my baby’s hospital photo. I love that little smile. She has a great smile now and wow, she just got engaged and wedding plans are underway. Wow. Tempus fugit.
