Mystery and me

Mystery and me are like fireworks on the 4th of July. For some reason, I love a good mystery in my stories. Thinking back on it, my first contemporary romance had a subplot revolving around an FBI Agent on a case. My paranormal romances were also suspense novels. Even in my real life, I love a mystery! I’ve taken part in the murder mystery dinners at the wonderful Coastal Magic Convention and my friends, and I create a new murder mystery every year for the fun Fall in Love with New England conference. This is a photo of the actors in the Coastal Magic Conference murder mystery, including moi! P.S. There is a ton of mystery in my new Crooked Pass Security series. Rom-Com or Romantic Suspense?

I have a habit that some would consider odd: I watch television while I write. Normally, it’s some kind of creative reality show, like THE GREAT POTTERY THROWDOWN or a true crime show. Lately, I’ve been taking a break by watching rom-coms. When it comes to reading, I lean toward contemporary romance with an occasional rom-com thrown in. I don’t normally do suspense, except for my fabulous fellow Harlequin Intrigue authors. What about you? P.S. If you love romantic suspense, check out my new Crooked Pass Security series at https://amzn.to/46qCvsh.

What’s Your Favorite Memory About Going Back to School?

Confession Time: I was one of those kids who loved school. Even when I wasn’t in school, I was already reading and even doing tests at home out of the back of the encyclopedia. Going back to school after the summer was heaven to me. My favorite memory is of walking with friends to elementary school. Either my grandmother or grandfather would walk us to the first house where we met a friend, and then we met other friends along the way. Yes, you could do that back then. We would then all wait to hear the bell that said the doors were now open, and we would charge in! What about you? What is your favorite memory of going back to school? P.S. There is a scene in THE FAMILY SHE NEVER MET which is not a happy memory, and it is my memory. When I was about to start kindergarten, my mother and grandmother drove me to school. It looked like a prison to me, but worse, I thought that my mother was going to leave me again, just like she had left me in Cuba. To read more about that and some other of my family’s real-life experiences in coming from Cuba to this amazing country, grab a copy at https://amzn.to/3JOT6NO. P.P.S. – It’s also a great romance!

Essential Tailgate Goodies

For many people, the start of football season means it’s also the start of tailgate time! I’ve only ever been to one tailgate party. It was for my nephew’s college game against my old alma mater. It was very memorable because it was below zero, which meant we were huddled against the tailgate, trying to stay warm as we ate the goodies set out in the SUV and drank delicious hot chocolate. What about you? Do you do tailgates, and if so, what’s the one goodie that has to be on your tailgate menu? P.S. I only have one book featuring a football player, and it’s a kind of paranormal romantic suspense. Check out STRONGER THAN SIN at https://amzn.to/4nhRrOX.

A Happy Visit

I love babysitting our grandbaby. He’s such a delight. I also love that I get to see my wonderful daughter when she comes by to pick him up. This past week was a very special visit since her Dad and I had ordered her new book, TRAVELER. It’s a tale of the banished prince of an underwater kingdom who has to deal with a perplexing surf photographer who has discovered his secret. Here’s a photo of my daughter and her little assistant signing her new release! You can grab TRAVELER at https://amzn.to/46hqDJ7.
