Defended by the Bodyguard

I’m putting the finishing touches on Defended by the Bodyguard, #2 in the new Crooked Pass Security series that debuts in August 2025 with Harlequin Intrigue! I’m so excited about this story that finally gives Robbie Whitaker, one of the South Beach Security tech gurus, his happily ever after. It’s an action-packed story about a musician who’s being terrorized by a series of threatening notes and attacks. I can’t wait for you to start this series but in the meantime, I’ve got two releases coming up with KILLER IN THE KENNEL and DANGER IN DADE, the last two books in the SBS K-9 series. You will love these stories with hard-working K-9s and heroes and heroines you will be rooting for! Grab your copies today at https://amzn.to/4dt8sk3.

Happy National Fire Pup Day

Happy National Fire Pup Day! Who wouldn’t want 101 loveable Dalmatian fire pups? But how did Dalmatians become associated with firefighters? Apparently, Dalmatians were associated with horse-drawn coaches and when fire engines used to be horse-drawn, they would help clear the way so the engines could reach a fire and then, stay behind with the horses and help calm them! Interesting right? I don’t have any books with fire pups, although it might be interesting to write some, including pups who help identify arson cases. But I do have K-9s who help find missing people and cadavers in KILLER IN THE KENNEL. You’ll love this action-packed book which features a loveable bloodhound who will help South Beach Security find the serial killer at their new K-9 training facility. Plain or Flavored Chips?

It’s true that you can’t eat just one and would you believe that if you look up “Studies on why you can’t eat just one” you’ll get dozens of articles trying to explain this phenomenon. Everything from why ultra-processed foods make us eat to how labeling them as “crunchy” is the trigger. For me, it’s that salty hit that I love! Up in Toronto, I got to try out ketchup-flavored chips. I actually liked them! Something about the mix of salt and a slight hint of tomato and vinegar did the trick. Normally I love flavored chips, like cheddar or sour cream and onion. But of course, plain chips are also tasty. What about you? Which chips do you prefer? Plain or flavored? P.S. If you love stories with food and a reluctant bride, check out NEVER A BRIDE in the At the Shore box set which is specially priced at 99 cents. Last Day in Toronto

What a great day yesterday at Harlequin offices. Learned so much about everything they do to publish our books. After that, we went to a cool book fair to support our fellow authors. Finally, an awesome party at the St. Regis to celebrate the 75th anniversary!

Harlequin Celebrates 75

While I’m celebrating my 25th anniversary of being published, Harlequin is celebrating 75! Congrats! I also realized that this year is the 20th anniversary of my first Harlequin book. To let the authors celebrate with them, Harlequin invited us to join them in their Toronto offices for meet and greets, seminars, and a ball. Today was our day for some of the meet and greets and seminars and it was really interesting to learn how our books are produced. It was also great to spend time with old friends, make new ones, and enjoy the sights of Toronto from the Harlequin offices. We’re having a great time and really look forward to tomorrow’s activities and the black and white ball. I hope to share more pictures with you tomorrow! P.S. The terra cotta looking building is Old City Hall which we passed on the way to the Harlequin offices.

The Queen of Latina Romance

Since I’m celebrating my 25th anniversary of being published, I’ve been sharing photos and stories with some of the highlights from my career. One of the most interesting and demanding but exciting ones was getting to ghostwrite the novel tie-in for the Jane the Virgin television show. How did that happen? Well, my agent and I got a call one day saying I was on a short list of authors to write the book. They asked if we were interested (who wouldn’t be) and if I could send them a sample of my writing. They also said, by the way, it will be a historical romance. I’ve never written a historical romance although my vampire romances sometimes had flashbacks to the vampire’s earlier lives. I had one particular scene that was still quite vivid in my memory from THE VAMPIRE’S CONSORT and we sent them that scene. The next day we got word: I was chosen to write the book. Just one problem: It had to be done in a month. WOW! I also couldn’t tell anyone about it, not even my family. WOW! So we said “yes” and I started writing. I had to take time off from work to be able to finish it but it was a blast and the showrunners were fabulous. They hinted at me being able to come to Los Angeles for a cameo but that didn’t work out. I was disappointed but they did something even better to make up for it: They had Jane say my name on the air and call me “The Queen of Latina Romance.” HOW EXCITING! So today, I’m showing a very short clip from that scene. You can grab SNOW FALLING, the book from the television show, at https://amzn.to/3N4t2MZ.

My First Book Signing

Since I wrote yesterday about how exciting it was to be celebrating 25 years since the publication of my first book, I decided that on this Throwback Thursday I’d share a photo from my very first book signing! This is my daughter and I at the Waldenbooks in Menlo Park Mall in Edison. The Waldenbooks stores were always very romance friendly and it was exciting that they let me sign there. They were so nice. They had the table right up front and even had some flowers for me! Happy memories! This weekend I’ll be making more happy memories as I’m visiting Harlequin in Toronto. They’re celebrating their 75th Anniversary and have invited their authors to come and celebrate with them! I’ll try to share photos as soon as I can.
