Happy International Women’s Day! On this day, I want to honor the women who have made such an impact on my life, namely, my mother and grandmother. They were strong-willed and independent. They always made me feel safe and protected. They encouraged and supported me, urging me to try so many different things and to go to college. I am the woman that I am because of who they were. I was blessed to have them in my life, and I miss them every single day.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss, and Happy Read Across America Day! I grew up on Dr. Seuss and can honestly say he was a major reason why I fell in love with reading. I vividly remember waiting at the corner for the bookmobile during the summer to grab a new Dr. Seuss book. My favorites were the 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins and To Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street, which has sadly been cancelled. Happy National Love Your Pet Day! I’m so glad that we rescued Slate, our little cat who’s not so little anymore. He’s such a loving cat and friendly to everyone! I’m also glad for my daughter’s pit mix Lily, who is so gentle and loving with her family. Such a sweet pup!
