Happy Easter Throwback

This may be a repeat throwback photo but since Easter is almost here, I thought it might be fun to show it to you again. This is my sister and me with my maternal grandmother (left) and my mom (right). We were all dressed for Easter and possibly a trip to New York City for the Easter parade. It was something we did on more than one occasion. Apparently you can still do the Easter Parade in NYC which is just a lot of people walking around in hats down 5th Avenue to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. P.S. – I’m the one in the flowery dress.

My Amazing Mom on Graduation Day

My mom was an amazing woman. Bright, determined, and way ahead of her time in so many ways. She was my mom, but she was also a mentor and my friend. She pushed me to be the best that I could be and always made me believe that anything that I wanted to do was possible if I worked hard enough for it. She was right about so many things and I miss her every day. It’s hard to believe that she’s been gone from my life for longer than she was in it. This is my mom’s graduation photo. I have to assume it’s from high school although she looks so young to me in this photo!

Blast from my High School Past

I posted a photo a while back from my high school days and my stint as an officer of the Leader’s Club. My sis sent me this photo from the yearbook of the entire Leader’s Club crew my senior year. I’m the one in the center in the first row. My sister is three in from the left on the third row. Leader’s Club members used to assist the female gym teachers during gym class and most of the girls were also athletes who participated on quite a number of teams. My fav sport was field hockey and I still have my stick from high school, not that I use it at all. I also was a huge fan of softball and tennis. Believe it or not, despite my shortness, I was on the volleyball team and also loved it! I even made the JV basketball team one year, but it just wasn’t my thing although I did play on an intramural team in college. I’d love to get back to playing some tennis or softball. In the meantime, I’ll try to stay active with my workouts and bowling!

Visit to the Philly Flower Show

We did our annual trip to the Philly Flower Show last week. They moved the show indoors again and to be honest, we were a little bummed by that. It was crowded in the Convention Center and many of the exhibits had been done in ways that required you to wait in lines and the lines were long. Despite that, we had a nice time although we’re not sure we’ll go back next year. Sad to say that since we’ve been going to the Flower Show for over twenty years and it always used to be indoors. But after the airy and spacious outdoor experience, it’s tough to be back in a crowded indoor space.

Beautiful Flowers at Longwood Gardens

I love visiting Longwood Gardens! There is always something interesting to see there from the flowers to the lovely fountains and statues. My sis and I went this last weekend when they were having a special members event and we had a lovely time walking through the conservatory, having lunch, and strolling through the grounds. Luckily it was a sunny day and not all that cold so it was wonderful. On this Throwback Thursday, I’m sharing some photos from our visit.

My Parents on Their Wedding Day

We didn’t get to take much out of Cuba when we left but many years later we were able to recover some old family photos. I love seeing how my parents and their friends looked. They all seemed so elegant in how they dressed. I especially love seeing photos of things like my mom’s First Communion and other big events. I’ll share some of those in the future. Today I’m sharing a photo of my parent signing their marriage license on their wedding day. My mom was so beautiful and my dad looks handsome as well. If you have photos of your parent’s wedding photos, take a moment to share and let me know a little about them!
