Happy National Sisters Day!
Happy National Sisters Day! Here’s wishing my sister Carmen a very happy National Sisters Day! I’m lucky to have her in my life, and we do many things together, especially gardening things. It’s fun to spend time with her, and I’m proud of what an accomplished gardener and cook she is. For those wondering, she finished 5th in the quarterfinals of that Favorite Chef competition. Quite an accomplishment. P.S. I have two books that feature a pair of sisters as the heroes. The first book, MORE THAN A MISSION, is part of the Capturing the Crown collection and is about a chef, Elizabeth Moore, who may be a professional assassin. The second book, SECRET AGENT REUNION, features her twin sister Dani, who is a spy! You can grab MORE THAN A MISSION at https://amzn.to/4xdTTuO. As for SECRET AGENT REUNION, my goal is to re-release that book in January 2027! Wish me luck!
Happy National Mutt Day
Happy National Mutt Day. When I think about it, except for DECOY TRAINING, where the hero was a stray lab/hound mix, I haven’t had a mutt in one of my K-9 books. That’s something that has to be remedied in my upcoming Crooked Pass Security K-9 series. By the way, mutts are now called the “All American Dog” at events like the Westminster Kennel Club, where an All American Dog won Best in Show in 2008! The term All American Dog embodies the wide variety of dogs found in the U.S. and is also intended to encourage people to rescue dogs from shelters. In DECOY TRAINING, Decoy, the hero K-9, was actually rescued from Afghanistan, where he had helped save military hero Shane Adler after he was buried in the rubble of a building after an IED explosion. If you want to read more about these heroes, you’re in luck because the e-book is specially priced at 1.99. Grab your copy today at https://amzn.to/2ZohoXx.
Fun Times with Friends
I had a lovely time at this year’s Romance Writers of America Conference. It was great to get together with longtime friends and make new ones. The workshops were very helpful and it was lovely to spend time with my editors. I also took part in the book signing along with many fellow authors. Harlequin provided books for all their authors to give away to readers. It was nice to see familiar faces, like Amy, whom I had met at RAGT this year! Next year’s conference will be in Portland, Oregon. Another state off my list of states to visit, but more on that next week. Today I’m sharing some photos from the book signing! P.S. DECOY TRAINING is specially priced at 1.99 until July 31st, so don’t miss out on this deal! Download your copy today at https://amzn.to/4bOBrRk.
Tempting Teaser from K-9 Tracker
I’m so excited for you to read K-9 TRACKER! I love this story about Nicky, a young woman seeking justice for her missing father and trying to help her mother receive much-needed medical treatment. I also love Cisco, the hero who is a slightly cynical former soldier who fully embraces Nicky’s quest, but has to fight falling in love with her. And then there’s Havana, an adorable beagle who’s not only good at tracking scents, but also a wonderful emotional support for both Nicky and Cisco. Today I’m giving you a sneak peek at the story. In this scene, Nicky and Cisco are finally exploring the emotions growing between them! Pre-order your copy of K-9 TRACKER today at https://amzn.to/4pT0QiD.
Excerpt
“G’night,” they both said at the same time, and the video call ended.
Cisco relaxed back into the chair, which creaked from the weight of his body. He turned slightly, faced Nicky, and said, “It’s time we got some rest. Tomorrow is going to be busy.”
With a quick bob of her head, she popped to her feet and glanced toward the living room.
“Are you sure you’re going to be comfortable on the couch. You’re…big,” she said as color exploded across her cheeks.
He fought back a grin and said, “I’ve slept in worse conditions.”
Nicky gestured upward with her index finger. “I could take the couch, and you could sleep in my bed. It would be more comfortable.”
It was his turn to be discomfited as desire rose at the thought of lying in her sheets, surrounded by her scent. He shifted uncomfortably on the chair and, in a husky voice, said, “I’ll be fine. Besides, I want to be the first line of defense from anyone coming through that door.”
The earlier color on her face fled, leaving it a pale, almost sickly green from fear.
Hating that he’d put that worry there, he rose and engulfed her in his arms. “I’m sorry. I can be…tactless at times.”
She snuggled against his chest and murmured, “No, you’re right about taking precautions.”
Pulling away slightly to meet his gaze, she said, “I want to believe no one would really hurt us, but that’s wrong. I need to grow up and accept what’s happening.”
Cradling her cheek, he soothed his thumb across the creamy skin there. It was so soft and smooth, and with his touch, that telltale flush of color crept across her cheeks.
“I imagine you had to grow up fast after your dad disappeared. And it’s okay to believe the best in people.”
“Like you? Should I believe the best in you?” she said, then cupped his jaw, and scraped her thumb across the dimple in his chin and the silvery scar there.
With a rough laugh, he said, “Sometimes people disappoint, but I’ll try my best not to.”
She surprised him then, rising on tiptoes to brush a fleeting kiss across his lips. “Try hard,” she said, and before he could react, she raced to the stairs and bounded up the steps.
He almost couldn’t believe she’d kissed him, but there was the barest hint of cherries on his lips, maybe from the lip gloss she wore.
A young woman’s fun lip gloss. A woman who didn’t need a beat-up, cynical, old thirtysomething warrior like him.

Happy National New Jersey Day!
Happy National New Jersey Day! I was raised on Long Island and loved it, but when it came time for hubby and me to buy a house, Long Island was unaffordable for various reasons. When a friend invited us for dinner at their New Jersey condo, we realized that New Jersey could provide the kind of life we wanted. We weren’t wrong. From our first small house to a bigger one when we had our daughter to our lovely condo on the Jersey Shore, we have loved New Jersey. There is so much to see and do here, and so many beautiful places. Today I’m sharing a little video showing you some of my lovely places down the shore! Enjoy! P.S. My love for the Jersey Shore is what inspired Sea Kiss, the fictional town in the At the Shore series. The first book, ONE SUMMER NIGHT, is specially priced at 99 cents.
